Inspiring a Love of Reading at Selwyn
Reading is at the heart of our curriculum and whilst we place emphasis on the importance of learning to read we equally promote ‘the love of reading’ in our school.
A child immersing themselves in a text allows them to drift to another world; to learn new facts and to build their imagination. Our aim is that children get ‘lost’ in stories and wait in anticipation to read the next page of a good book! As part of this, we held our first ever Selwyn Reading Café, with over 100 Year 1 and Reception students and parents attending!
