Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium grant funding from the DfE is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
How we use the Pupil Premium
All schools in receipt of Pupil Premium funding are required to publish details of how the school spends its Pupil Premium funding, and the effect this has had on the attainment of the pupils who attract the funding. Our detailed report of how we plan to use the funding in 2024/25 to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils, as well as how it was used in the past academic year, is available here.
Reports must include:
- how much Pupil Premium funding you received for this academic year
- details of how you intend to spend the funding, including your reasons and evidence
- details of how you spent the Pupil Premium funding you received for last academic year
- how it made a difference to the attainment of disadvantaged pupils
School accountability for the Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is paid to schools as they are best placed to assess what additional provision their pupils need. Ofsted inspections report on how schools’ use of the funding affects the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils. The government also holds schools to account through performance tables, which include data on:
- the attainment of the pupils who attract the funding
- the progress made by these pupils
- the gap in attainment between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
