PE and Sport Premium
PE and sports premium is allocated to schools by the government, based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. The object of the funding is for schools to be able to ‘make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sports that they offer’.
How we use the PE and Sport Premium funding
Given the aim of the funding, we ensure that it is used to deliver improvements, over and above the quality PE and sports teaching that we already provide at Selwyn. Details of our planned strategy for the use of this funding in the previous academic year – 2023/24 – together with an impact report, is available here. Details of our strategy for the use of our 2024/25 funding will be published here shortly.
Areas where we use our funding includes:
- hire qualified sports coaches to work with teachers
- provide existing staff with training or resources to help them teach PE and sport more effectively
- introduce new sports or activities and encourage more pupils to take up sport
- support and involve the least active children by running or extending school sports clubs and holiday clubs
- run sport competitions
- increase pupils’ participation in the School Games (see below)
- run sports activities with other schools
Reporting the use and impact of the PE and Sport Premium
As a recipient of PE and sport premium funding, we publish details of how we spend this money, and the effect it has had on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment.
We include:
