Train to teach
We are delighted to partner with Teach First to deliver our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme for our secondary schools. Teach First is a national charity that develops and supports teachers and leaders who are determined to make a difference where it is needed the most. As a training partner, we will be working with Teach First to deliver this one-year teacher training programme, which enables participants to train and develop skills in the classroom.
This programme is ideal for people who are eager to learn on the job and make a difference in their community from day one. Our Newham Community Learning SCITT booklet has further information; please email traintoteach@ncltrust.net to find out more. Please note that this programme is currently aimed at secondary teaching staff.
Why Choose Our SCITT Programme?
- Train on the job – from day one, you will be based in a real classroom, learning from experienced mentors.
- Make a difference in your community – support young people in Newham and help transform lives through education.
- Gain QTS and PGDE – our programme offers Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the option to gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
- Professional support – benefit from the combined expertise of Teach First and Newham Community Learning’s network of schools.
This programme is ideal for those eager to learn through practice, while being fully supported by a national training provider and our local schools.
